I must be missing something obvious. Do I get something into the gallery by positing a new topic to the "Share Your CFDG!" forum? Seems like no. So how's it done?

Log in to the gallery using the same username/password that you use for the forums (they don't share session state so separate login). Then you should see an UPLOAD! button. You can also upload directly from Context Free, but remember to render to about 800x800 pixels first.

I should change the gallery so that the UPLOAD! link is always there. If you are not logged in it should ask you to login first.

can't login to the gallery

I'm logged in to the forums (obviously) but the same username and password for the gallery gives "That password or username is wrong!"

Aha! The gallery has username rules that are more strict than the forum. If I change your forum username to makdaddy98102 you will be ably to login to the gallery. Do you want me to do that?

No underscores?!?! What is the world coming to?

Thanks for looking into it. I'll go ahead and create a new account name for both.

Wait! I just changed the gallery PHP code. It should accept your current user name. Try logging in again.

Hmmm. I noticed an error in the user data insert/update code. Try it again.

Help with user name and gallery upload

Post by jn »
Aha! The gallery has username rules that are more strict than the forum. If I change your forum username to makdaddy98102 you will be ably to login to the gallery. Do you want me to do that?
I created an account with username "-jn-" without problems. However, the gallery won't accept an upload from me. In addition, when I try to create a new alpha-only username, I get rejected because my email is already in use.

I'd like to be able to participate, but am currently at a roadblock! Any assistance appreciated.

PS: If there are restrictions on the form of a username, I'd suggest putting that on the registration page.

I will modify the forum code to match the site-wide restriction. The problem is that we use the phpbb forum database for managing accounts on the gallery and the wiki, but the wiki has more strict username requirments than the forums.

Do you want me to change your username to jn?

Yes, please. That sounds like the quickest solution for my immediate problem.

Thanks!

OK, it's changed. You should probably logout of the gallery and the forums and log back in.
